We celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel with these scapular brownies and Our Lady of Mount Car-a-mel Milkshakes :)
Yesterday we had Magdalenenstriezeln for the feast of St. Mary Magdalene. As far as I can tell, these are supposed to represent her fingers. Why fingers? My (very brief) research seems to show that her fingers were venerated because they touched Our Lord when she washed his feet with her hair. We ate these delicious cookies with San Sebastian Rosa wine (neither red, nor white since she was neither martyr nor virgin) -- that was a little stretch, but it was a good excuse for one of our favorite wines.
And of course, what is a feast day with out some Settlers of Catan! :)
Just for the record, I don't think up these ideas! I find inspiration for most of these things at Catholic Cuisine (GREAT blog!)
